Client: Nord Anglia Education

Project description: The prestigious and private British International School of Chicago serves students varying in age from Pre-K through high school. The building spans two stories, includes a basement, and is part of the Roosevelt Collection mixed-use project.

The educational facility houses over 50 new state-of-the-art classrooms, seminar rooms, and computer learning labs. The facility includes a gymnasium that can accommodate three practice basketball courts, volleyball, and badminton, while also being able to convert to an auditorium for school presentations.  The lower level of the building houses a cafeteria, a weight room, music rooms, a design technology center, and other student amenities. The design focuses on integrating interior spaces with outdoor venues. There is a rooftop park that includes walking paths, planting areas, and turf that can accommodate large gatherings or events. Additionally, a turf soccer field and an on-grade park across 9th Street provide students and the South Loop neighborhood with a connection to nature.
