Project description: The largest Catholic graduate school of theology in the United States, the Catholic Theological Union, partnered with Antunovich Associates to expand its Hyde Park campus in Chicago, Illinois.

The new Academic Center, a five-story “contextual modern” building, contains classrooms, assembly spaces, offices, an atrium, a state-of-the-art library, and a parking garage. This innovative building combines all the academic uses of the institution into a unique mixed-use structure. One hundred sixty parking spaces are nestled into the lower floors of the building, concealed from view from the street. The generous atrium integrates all levels of the building both spatially and with elevated connections between key functional areas.

The 10-story former academic building at the corner of Cornell Avenue and 54th Street was renovated to serve as a residential facility, complete with dining facilities and offices as part of the same development.
