DePaul University Science Building II

Location:Chicago, Illinois
Client: DePaul University

Project description: To help DePaul University complete its long-term plan for science education, Antunovich Associates designed a second science building, adjacent to the McGowan Biological and Environmental Science Building, to house chemistry and much needed large classroom teaching laboratories. The new facility allows the university to expand space allocated to biological and environmental sciences and to accommodate the enrollment growth that has outstripped the capacity of the original McGowan Building.

The brick and limestone facility opened early in 2009, providing DePaul with space to replace outdated on-campus chemistry facilities and promote the sharing of teaching and research equipment and laboratory space. This new building houses state of the art visualization equipment for use in scientific research and education and facilitates curricular and research collaborations across several science-related disciplines.
