Project description: Midlothian Country Club, located in Midlothian, Illinois, is just twenty four miles south of Chicago. The Private Club dates back to the 19th century when it was a getaway for Chicago businessmen, and the course, designed by Herbert J. Tweedie, was one of America’s first eighteen-hole golf courses.

Antunovich Associates collaborated with Midlothian Country Club on the renovation of the Grill Room, a 1,500 SF space located on the first floor of the country club. The Grill Room had limited access to the outdoor patio for dining and lounging. Direct access was added and the outdoor patio was renovated. Improvements on the patio include landscape, hardscape, new furniture, and gas lines for the fire pits. In addition, the renovated Grill Room provides an attractive alternative to the formal atmosphere of the second floor Dining Room, particularly for times that the second floor is used for banquets. The members now have a second desirable location for dinner and an additional bar.

The space takes inspiration from its intrinsic relationship with the outdoors; the local trees, greenery, and nearby rivers create to a quiet respite that is both welcoming, elegant, and one with nature.
