Project description: Antunovich Associates reimagined a collection of spaces at The Citizen at Shirlington Village. This vibrant apartment complex in Arlington, Virginia is close to picturesque shopping, dining, entertainment venues, and only a few subway stops from downtown Washington D.C.

Drawing inspiration from the locale, the redesign is characterized by the vision that “Everybody has a Story.” Comprised of contemporary decorative light fixtures and custom wood millwork that infuse warm elements across a neutral palette, the clubhouse interiors are punctuated by artwork with a witty lens. A grand art mural transforms the space and draws inspiration from the city’s urban identity, while the leasing offices are wrapped in warm wood with brushed brass metal details for an industrial twist.

The Citizen at Shirlington Village also boasts unique exterior courtyards with re-envisioned communal areas focused on promoting connections and on embracing nature. The chic pool deck features resort-style cabanas and an array of seating options to create a lushly designed outdoor experience.

The renovation included the property’s 3,500 SF Clubhouse/Leasing Office, 6,000 SF Fitness Center with an additional recreational room, 404-Unit Apartment Complex, 5 exterior Courtyards, and a Pool Deck to create a sumptuous environment that pairs perfectly with the complex’s understated elegance and discreet luxury. Working closely with the client, Antunovich Associates' Interior Design and Procurement Studios took charge of all interior and architectural design aspects for a full renovation that includes custom artwork, wallcovering, millwork, and lighting and all FF&E.
