Ravenswood Station

Location:Chicago, Illinois
Client: Barret Porto, Real Estate

Project description: Ravenswood Station is a 100,000 square foot mixed use facility located at the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Ravenswood Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. The 50 foot tall, two story structure sits at the south end of the site, while a surface level parking lot occupies the north. The tenants include Mariano’s Fresh Market, LA FITNESS, and several smaller businesses.

The design maximizes user access by facilitating both vehicular and pedestrian approaches. Motorized traffic enters from Lawrence Ave and is guided to either the surface or the rooftop parking lots. The rooftop parking is accessed through a ramp that partially bisects the building and defines the tenant spaces. Entry from this parking is celebrated with a lobby that includes elevators and escalators that descend into the large second level tenant, Mariano’s Fresh Market. To facilitate pedestrian traffic, Mariano’s also includes two conventional ground level entrances and a prominent corner entry located in the southeast portion of the site. All other tenants are also provided with ground level entries to promote walk-in traffic.
